We are currently looking for an IT Assistant Officer to join the cruise vessel AZAMARA QUEST . Position: IT Assistant Vessel: AZAMARA QUEST Embarkation: ASAP Contract: 4 months +/- 1 month Department: IT Shipboard Systems Requirements C1/D Visa and Schengen Visa , if available Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology , or a related field Proven professional experience in IT support , preferably within the cruise, maritime, hospitality, or other international environments Relevant industry IT certifications would be an advantage Strong communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a demanding, multicultural environment Good knowledge of networking and connectivity , including basic configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance Familiarity with onboard and hospitality systems , including POS/PMS systems , with the ability to provide support and troubleshoot issues Strong end-user and endpoint support skills, including troubleshooting hardware, peripherals, software and connectivity issues Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools , ticketing systems and technical documentation platforms Proficiency with standard productivity software, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation applications Ability to configure, maintain and troubleshoot onboard IT hardware, software and network infrastructure Strong work ethic, reliability and excellent teamwork skills Ability to work effectively under the direction of the IT Manager and contribute proactively to the smooth operation of the vessel’s IT environment The successful candidate should be service-oriented, technically capable and comfortable working independently while supporting the IT Manager and the wider onboard team . Position Summary The role of the Assistant IT Officer is responsible for assisting the IT Officer with supporting the day-to-day IT operations onboard. This is accomplished via several activities: End User and Guest Technical Support Daily systems maintenance routines Monitoring system performance Monitoring the incident support queues while resolving open incidents Special projects for new system deployments, upgrades and decommissioning The expectation of the role is to ensure that all IT systems are kept up to date with the latest in security patches, while operating at optimal performance levels, with little to no impact to the operations onboard. Reporting Structure The role of Assistant IT Officer reports to the onboard IT Officer Computer knowledge: Ability to apply the principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Working knowledge of networking, computer hardware and software, with a focus on operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, and Linux) and business application suites. Ability to conduct basic network troubleshooting (in particular LAN), including knowledge of standard network cabling. Ability to work with Microsoft Office package, install various applications, install printers and scanners and other peripherals needed Safety Duties: Participates in crew and passenger safety drills according to instructions. Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures. Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others. Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are used correctly. Education/Experience/Qualifications: Minimum 6 months experience in a technical user assistance role such as a helpdesk or similar CompTIA A+ and/or CompTIA N+ certification preferred. Associate degree in computer science or related field from an accredited university or the international equivalent, or equivalent work-related experience Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Demonstrates ability to perform successfully in an open environment where frequent and direct interaction and collaboration with guests and peers is ordinary. Excellent organizational and analytical skills Ship experience a plus, but not required. Language requirements: Good English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to engage with guests and crew members effectively and efficiently. Additional languages are considered beneficial. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Profile: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead, motivate and develop a culturally diverse work force. Punctual. Proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to be flexible, well organised, self-managed and motivated. Handle multiple demands, remain calm and effective under pressure, and resolve issues quickly. Well-groomed and neat appearance. Must possess a positive, guest service orientated attitude at all times. Ability to deliver a high standard of technical performance. Status- Petty Officer. Key Responsibilities: Assembles and configures basic network components. Performs basic troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common problems, including, but not limited to, in-stateroom equipment for In-Stateroom Entertainment (ISE, including Interactive TV) and WiFi. Provides technical assistance to guests and crew as directed by the IT Officer. Sets up, monitors, and breaks down embarkation check-in equipment and operations. Regularly carries out maintenance on all IT equipment, making basic repairs when needed on PCs, printers, and other peripherals. Ensures that security updates and anti-virus programs are current on all systems. Supports the guests for Internet issues. Keeps an accurate physical inventory of all hardware and software onboard. Responsible for logging all time/work performed, including review of incident ticket queue onboard and in the enterprise ITSM system. Problem determination and troubleshooting of PC, application, and networking issues. Provides notification to IT Officer of all IT issues in a timely manner. Maintains appropriate confidentiality of information processed. Supports desktop publishing systems. Handles all other related duties as instructed by his/her supervisor and IT Dept.

Notes: Sign on will be 03OCT at Boston, US – C1/D visa is mandatory Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong technical skills in troubleshooting IT systems and components. Knowledge of satellite-communication systems is an advantage. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including nights.
